COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This program is designed to provide a forum for experienced and novice neonatal nurses, nurse practitioners, managers and clinical nurse specialists to learn and share challenges in caring for neonates. Topics cover the spectrum from basic to advanced, sharing outcomes of new or less utilized care measures with the neonatal community.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:

Upon completion of the course, the participant will be able to:

1. Discuss implications of medication shortages and backorders to the neonatal patient.

2. Identify indications, side effects and nursing considerations for medications given via drip administration.

3. Verbalize various nursing considerations in caring for the neonatal patient with a PICC line in place

4. Discuss legal considerations in the care of neonates.

5. Discuss innovations in practice in neonatal care.

6. Understand the process toward invention and marketing for a neonatal product.
